Our coffee comes from the Nayarit mountains nearby. It is specially roasted to taste like Starbucks. They think we are crazy and call it “burned coffee", but it is GOOD!
Juice means fresh squeezed orange juice, often from local groves.
All the dishes are served with fresh tortillas (corn or flour) refried beans, rice, a variety of Mexican spicy sauces, guacamole and fresh fruit sweet water called Agua Fresca. The cook always make Limonada (fresh squeezed lime juice), a vital ingredient for Margaritas, so plan on the best Margaritas in town.
This menu gives you an idea about the type of Mexican food that you will eat while you are visiting Casa Lagarto. This is REAL Mexican food.
A variety of different salads are offered - the local produce is wonderful.
Please do not be afraid to ask what things are, to talk to the cook, practice your Spanish, or ask Ismael if you have special needs or concerns. Our cooks are trained in the highest standards of cleanliness and they pride themselves on providing service of the best quality.
The casa is stocked with food, and the cooks leave at 4 p.m. You are on your own for supper, which will enable you to eat leftovers, make quesadillas, have barbecues, cook or not cook, and leave the mess for the cook to clean up before breakfast. They will make extra salsa and guacamole if you request. The cooks will take good care of you, between meals, cleaning and doing laundry. This allows EVERYONE to have a vacation from cooking and cleaning as well.
If you plan a fishing trip, just let us know, and the cook will have breakfast ready when you return, and prepare your catch for dinner. We are unaware of a party that has not brought back enough fish to feed an army.
